Train Higher. Perform Stronger. Recover Faster.

Altitude Training at The Outpost

Altitude Training at the EnduroLiving Outpost uses an oxygen-controlled training system to safely simulate the reduced oxygen levels found at high altitude — typically between 2,000 and 3,000 metres above sea level.

By adjusting the oxygen concentration in the air you breathe, the system creates a controlled hypoxic environment that challenges your body to adapt — naturally increasing red blood cell production, improving oxygen efficiency, and boosting endurance performance.

  • Boost VO₂ Max and aerobic efficiency

  • Increase stamina and delay fatigue

  • Strengthen cardiovascular and respiratory performance

  • Build mental resilience and focus under controlled stress

  • Support recovery and cellular adaptation

Altitude Training at The Outpost

  • A man is altitude training on a stationary bike while wearing a breathing mask during a clinical test at the EWOT (Exercise With Oxygen Therapy) center, with the sign 'EWOT The Outpost' visible on the wall behind him.

    Who It’s For

Altitude Training is suitable for anyone looking to:

Improve endurance performance (runners, cyclists, triathletes)

Accelerate adaptation before a race or event

Strengthen cardiovascular fitness and oxygen efficiency

Support long-term health and cellular function

Add a powerful longevity and resilience protocol to their training

  • Medical oxygen concentrator with tubing and a nasal cannula, set against a wall with a sign that reads 'EWOT How It Works'.

How It Works at The Outpost

All sessions are powered by our altitude simulation oxygen machine, which precisely controls oxygen concentration to replicate high-altitude conditions.

You can complete your session on either:

The Treadmill – ideal for runners and endurance athletes

The Bike – perfect for cyclists or low-impact training days

    Session Options:

    1. Active Altitude Sessions (30–45 mins)
Train at controlled intensity on the treadmill or bike while breathing reduced-oxygen air. Ideal for improving endurance, aerobic base, and VO₂ Max.

    2. Passive Altitude Sessions (20–30 mins)
Sit and breathe the simulated high-altitude air in a relaxed state. Perfect for enhancing recovery, red blood cell priming, or post-injury rehab.

  • Modern cabin with wooden exterior and large glass window, surrounded by low vegetation in a mountainous landscape with rocky peaks in the background.

    Why It Works

When oxygen availability is reduced, your body works harder to transport and utilize it. Over time, this trains your cardiovascular and respiratory systems to become more efficient — giving you a measurable performance advantage when you return to normal oxygen conditions.

    Combine with Other Protocols:

Maximise your results by pairing Altitude Training with:

EWOT (Exercise With Oxygen Training) – for high/low oxygen contrast sessions

Cold Plunge or Infrared Sauna – to support recovery and circulation

Hydra+ Stack – to enhance cellular hydration and oxygen metabolism

 FAQs on Altitude Training

  • Altitude Training uses a controlled oxygen system to simulate the air you would breathe at high altitude — typically 2,000–3,000 metres above sea level. This “low oxygen” environment challenges your body to adapt, increasing red blood cell production, improving oxygen efficiency, and boosting endurance and recovery performance.

  • We use a medical-grade oxygen machine to safely reduce the oxygen concentration in the air you breathe. The machine precisely controls oxygen levels, allowing us to recreate real altitude conditions inside the Outpost.

  • You’ll perform your session using our altitude-controlled breathing mask, connected to the oxygen machine, while training on either a treadmill or a bike. You can also choose passive sessions where you simply breathe the altitude air while seated for recovery or acclimatization.

  • Yes — all sessions are delivered in a controlled and monitored environment. Our team tracks oxygen saturation and heart rate throughout your session. The system is completely safe for healthy adults and can be adjusted instantly for comfort.

  • Most people describe it as “training at the top of a mountain.” You’ll breathe slightly harder, but it’s comfortable and manageable. You may feel your heart rate increase a little faster than usual — that’s your body adapting to the reduced oxygen environment.

  • For performance benefits, we recommend 2–3 sessions per week over a 4–6 week block. For recovery, wellness, or longevity goals, 1–2 passive sessions per week can be highly effective.

  • Altitude Training helps:

    • Improve VO₂ Max and aerobic endurance

    • Increase red blood cell count

    • Strengthen cardiovascular and respiratory systems

    • Enhance recovery and energy efficiency

    • Support metabolic and cellular health

  • Absolutely. Altitude Training is suitable for all levels. The intensity and oxygen levels are adjusted to match your experience and fitness level. Whether you’re training for an event or looking to improve your health, we tailor every session to you.

  • Yes — it’s an excellent pre-event protocol. A block of sessions before an endurance event can boost red blood cell production and oxygen transport, giving you a measurable performance advantage at sea level.

  • Wear your usual training gear and running shoes. Bring water and, if you’d like, your wearable device (Garmin, WHOOP, Apple Watch) as an additional heart rate and data tracker.

  • Definitely — it pairs perfectly with:

    • EWOT (Exercise With Oxygen Training) for contrast adaptation

    • Infrared Sauna or Cold Plunge for recovery

    • Hydra+ Stack or Performance Stack for hydration and cellular support
